Representatives from the Ministry of Education visited the Lidl Food Academy to enjoy first-hand an experience that Lidl Cyprus offers a lucky few every Saturday..

Starting very early in the morning on Saturday, March 16, chef Konstantinos Petevenos and a team of trainees initiated the Ministry representatives into the world of Cyprus’ unique Food Academy, in a class devoted to the Mediterranean diet and its values.

The seminar began to great enthusiasm and with the delegates ready to assume the role of apprentices. First up was the chef’s favourite recipe for soft, cheese-filled peinirli, with the unique dough which Belbake flour makes deliciously crisp.

For the main course, the chef’s team provided a step-by-step demonstration of how to make alternative soutzoukakia giaourtlou, using Lidl chicken mince, ezme tomato sauce, Galpo yogurt and handmade pita bread.

Finally, for dessert, a different take on the traditional syrupy orange cake called portokalopita, perfectly set off by a scoop of Gelatelli vanilla ice-cream and Alesto finely chopped walnuts, came as a reward for everyone.

As on every other Saturday, the seminar concluded with a heavenly dinner overlooking the Lidl Food Academy garden, filled with the fragrance of lemon blossom.
