Lidl Cyprus, faithful to its corporate commitment toward the protection of the environment and the promotion of volunteerism, proceeded with the cleaning up of the area of the Larnaca Salt Lake.
The activity was an initiative of Lidl Cyprus’ Human Resources Department and was implemented in the context of Let’s Do It Cyprus clean-up campaign. The cleaning up campaign took place on the World Environment Day (June 5) with the participation of more than 40 employees from the company, who embraced the activity along with their families.
Young and old were informed about the proper separation of waste, equipped with reusable gloves and special bags. In total, 1120 litres PMD and 560 litres mixed waste have been collected.
The cleaning up took place around the Salt Lake area, in one of the most important wetlands of the Mediterranean, a place for migratory birds, but also for the growth of rare plants. During the procedure, all the prescribed sanitary protection measures and Covid-19 protocols were followed.
On the road to a better tomorrow, Lidl Cyprus focuses on the implementation of initiatives that promote volunteerism and contribute to the creation of a responsible civil society.
