Lidl Cyprus puts smiles on the faces of children at the Pediatric wing of Larnaca General Hosiptal

With a due sense of responsibility towards children and society, Lidl Cyprus donated €2,000 worth of wooden toys to the Pediatric Clinics of the new and old Larnaca Hospital.

The Playtive Junior wooden toys are to keep company to children who are being treated in the Pediatric Clinics, as well as to those who are undergoing diagnostic tests within the building of the new Hospital. The toys will be placed in the waiting room corridors, clinics, breastfeeding rooms and in the specially designed playrooms.

Lidl was pleased to respond to the initiative of the Christina A. Apostolou Foundation to provide a pleasing environment to children, thus undertaking to redesigning of the premises of the Pediatric Clinic. In this context, the Foundation organised a competition on the topic of #wewillsucceed, encouraging children to send their own optimistic messages through paintings. The children's paintings will be used by a group of painters who will undertake the transformation of the Playroom of the Clinic.

For its part, Lidl acknowledges the vital importance of play as a means of learning, socialising and empathy, and wanted to provide moments of carefreeness as well as activate children's imagination and creativity. At a time when digital gaming is prevalent, traditional gaming helps children cultivate their developmental skills and eliminate stress.

It’s no coincidence, after all, that due to the significance of play, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has recognised play as a right of every child, " said Spyros Kondylis, General Manager of Lidl Cyprus.
