VISIT TO MAXIFOODS.

Starting Monday, 18 February, consumers at all Lidl stores will be able to buy the new innovative product “Sushi Box Select & Go”, made exclusively by Maxifoods for Lidl Cyprus.

Additionally, the exclusive label “Fresh Fish Today” products have been available at all Lidl stores since 2014, and include 11 codes of whole or filleted Cypriot or imported fresh fish, such as gilt-head bream, sea bass, salmon, trout, perch and bogue.

Lidl has worked with Maxifoods since 2014 with growing success. All of its products meet the highest European Union standards and are known for excellent quality - a prerequisite for all suppliers working with Lidl Cyprus.

Maxifoods was launched in 2001 by founder and General Manager Michalis Karayiannis with the aim of importing high-quality products into the Cypriot market. Maxifoods Cyprus is a fresh and frozen food wholesaler known for its state-of-the-art packaging line.

On Thursday, 21 March, a group of media representatives and Lidl managers visited the Maxifoods facilities and were given a tour by Operations Manager Pambos Xenophontos. As part of the fascinating experience touring the workshop and packaging unit of the exclusive Sushi Box Select & Go products, Quality Manager Despo Constantinou provided important information on the company’s responsibility and diligence in regard to the controls and certifications it holds for the strictest European standards, such as ISO, FSSC22000 and BRC FOOD. Lastly, those present were able to observe sushi chef Yanko Slavov and his team at work as they prepared top-quality sushi exclusively for Lidl in a model facility approved and inspected by public health authorities.
