PURE program on resource and environmental management effectiveness
Lidl announced the launch of ‘PURE’ (Project for Environmental and Resource Efficiency) – the new training programme which, in partnership with GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation), a specialist organisation in sustainability; has been designed to continue to improve the working conditions and environmental solutions of textile suppliers in Bangladesh and China.
‘PURE’ aims to educate and share practical solutions to everyday health, safety and environmental challenges in these factories. The companies engaging in this scheme can then use this training to help continually develop and enforce their own standards.
Since the implementation of the PURE program in June 2017 more than 400 employees in 80 sectorshave been trained in subjects such as the responsible handling of sensitive chemicals, reducing resource consumption and improving water and wastewater management.
