Lidl’s Quality Commitment

Our commitment to our customers, which we demand of ourselves and is a daily incentive for us all, is that all private label Lidl products boast both attractive prices and quality.

In the framework of Lidl’s quality management system, and in pursuit of the continuous further development of our products – in accordance with the concept of sustainability as we understand it – we have an ongoing dialogue and exchange of information with our producers and suppliers. Working with our suppliers we have set strict quality criteria for Lidl private label products and we have diligently assigned the quality control of Lidl products to specialized partners and independent institutes. These procedures are all aimed at ensuring safety and quality.

Our benchmark is happy customers

Any reports and suggestions aimed at our improvement are always welcome. All reports regarding problems with the quality or safety of our products are examined immediately.
In the framework of consistent consumer protection, if problems arise we immediately withdraw products from sale, inform our customers and publicly recall the products in question.

Award-recognised quality

Whether from consumer organizations or testing magazines, many Lidl brands regularly receive awards and top marks in acclaimed product testing from specialized magazines.

Independent testing results show that Lidl’s private labels are often ranked higher than those of equivalent brand-name products.

Our food standards

Our foodstuffs ensure safe enjoyment. Prior to circulation, Lidl private label products are thoroughly inspected and tested. In addition to our own in-house quality controls, we use AGROLAB Cyprus, an acclaimed independent testing institute, for microbial, chemical, physical and organoleptic testing.

We also check our products’ labelling, ensuring that all ingredients are fully and correctly listed on the package. This enables individuals with allergies or special dietary needs to find full information regarding ingredients and possible allergens, quickly and easily.

Consumer safety is our priority

For us, a primary quality criterion is product safety. Therefore, starting with production we make sure that all the products are safe to use, as long as they are used correctly. Lidl has established a strict control system for all its production units and procedures. The safety-related inspections of the products are always carried out by independent institutes according to internationally recognised standards – regardless of where products such as toys, electrical appliances and tools were manufactured.

For the consumer goods sector these include: TÜV Süd, TÜV Rheinland and the Hohenstein Institute.
