5 years of Lidl Food Academy, 5 years of creation, 5 years of unique recipes

When the Lidl Food Academy on Stasikratous Street opened its doors to the public for the first time, it promised that it will follow an endless tasty journey. On route, cooking lessons, nutrition seminars, food and wine tasting seminars, as well as seminars about specialised food categories were materialised.

On 5 November 2020, the Lidl Food Academy, a Lidl global prototype, completed 5 years of operation. The academy was created to offer a holistic experience and a holistic taste journey that begins with Lidl products and reaches the culture of various countries through different thematic cooking classes delivered on every week. Over the five years and up until today, we count more than 200 free cooking lessons for customers and 600 original recipes by experienced chefs, as well as hundreds of children who visited the Academy under the "Food Academy for children" program which is materialised under the auspices of the Ministry of Education.

At Lidl Food Academy, we support the value of healthy, homemade food with fresh ingredients from our country. We cook with these ingredients and contribute to a balanced diet and improve the quality of life of all of us.

During the current festive atmosphere, the cooking class which took place on Saturday, November 7, 2020, offered sweet treats and multiple smiles to the class’ attendees. In order to further welcome the public, the locale of the Academy "wore" its festive outfit. Colourful small sweet treats adorned the table, while a birthday cake which was decorated in white, with small flowers and fruits that formed the number 5. Undoubtedly, the special decoration caught the attention of onlookers and created feelings of joy to those present.

Accompanying this five-year journey is the Academy's chef, Konstantinos Petevinos, who creates imaginative recipes for each lesson and has shared them with us from Lidl Food Academy’s first day of operation. For this very special day, the pastry chefs of the Academy Dimitris and Xenia Ioannou created a selection of sweets treats dedicated to the academy’s 5 years.

It is within this festive setting that the participants attended the cooking class and made the recipes with the help of the chef and his team. Crispy profiteroles filled with muslin cream, lemon cup cakes with poppy seeds and buttercream coating with cream cheese, lemon cream with crumble vanilla biscuit and fresh blueberries and buttercream for cake coating, were on the menu.

With a deep sense of responsibility towards society as a whole, but also inspired by our timeless, corporate values, we set a new date, after the lifting of the measures announced by the Ministry of Health on November 13th. Lidl Food Academy will be with you again when conditions permit and when we are all safe and sound.
